Pharmaceutical manufacturing ensures excellent performance, confirmed by key opinion leaders. Our highly purified collagenase from Clostridium histolyticum in combination with neutral protease are widely used for isolation of sensitive cells from various tissues. The most important application to date is the isolation of islets from the human pancreas, followed by transplantation of these islets into humans to treat diabetes. The collagenase can also be used to isolate sensitive cells from tissues such as liver or dental pulp-- new application development is ongoing. Collagenase is regarded as a critical raw material for such clinical applications and therefore only the highest safety standards are acceptable. The plant-based manufacturing process completely eliminates the risk of introducing potential animal-derived pathogens.
